Exploration of the human impact on species, specifically the threats on sea turtles. They are close to becoming extinct in the wild due to many threats like wildlife trade, harvesting eggs and shells, bycatch, loss of nesting and coral reef habitat, and harmful plastics disposed in the oceans.

Let's help them by:

👓avoid buying real "tortoise shell" accessories and jewelry. This is the greatest and most direct threat to hawksbill sea turtles (pictured above) which is the most endangered of all the species.

🦞 be a responsible seafood consumer and learn where your fish is being caught. If we don't, we risk contributing to the demand of massive fishing companies that do not care what animals are caught in their nets, including drowning sea turtles.

♻️ dispose of your plastics properly. avoid using straws (we actually don't need them as much as we think we do). clean up after yourself at the beach! Sea turtles love jellyfish so they mistake plastic bags as food and suffer by choking.

🥚 do not disturb turtle nests by touching them or shining light on them for predators to see/disorienting the freshly hatched bbs. Make sure to knock down obstacles like sandcastles and fill in campfire holes so baby sea turtles can make their way to the sea. We need to protect these nests at all costs so we can give the turtles a better chance at thriving as a species again.
